Choosing your Mirrors
Is your installment of Antergos taking a REALLY long time or failing to download packages?
Perhaps your mirror list needs to be changed. Your installment can be slow if the mirror Antergos picked is from, say, half way across the world rather than near you. To rectify this issue, you need to manually choose which mirrors Cnchi should use. To do so, simply:
- run the live CD
- Update the mirrorlists by running
sudo pacman -S pacman-mirrorlist antergos-mirrorlist
NOTE: Sometimes just updating the mirrorlist can solve the issue, but often it does not. To manually pick the mirror to use (e.g. the closest one to you) continue with these steps.
- Since you already had a mirrorlist, you must copy the new ones to the old ones by running these two commands:
sudo mv /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
sudo mv /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist.pacnew /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist
- Edit those two files, and leave just the mirrors you want to use (put a starting # in those that you don’t)
- Next, run
pacman -Syyto check that the mirrors are working. However, you should never do this in an installed system, in an installed system always run
- Finally, run Cnchi again but tell it to not rank your mirrors automatically using this command:
sudo -E cnchi -dv --disable-rank-mirrors
That's it! Your problem should now be solved.
The above directions were a result of the work of @karasu, and not me. I only took what he had in the Forum and put it here for general use.
If This did not Work
...and you received something like this after step 2...
resolving dependencies... looking for conflicting packages... Packages (2) antergos-mirrorlist-20150715-1 pacman-mirrorlist-20150731-1 Total Installed Size: 0.04 MiB Net Upgrade Size: 0.00 MiB :: Proceed with installation? ...Then simply run the following commands:
sudo pacman -Sccto clear the cache. Next, run
sudo pacman -Syyuto update the system normally and you should be good to go.
If Everything Just Generally Fails
Sometimes this can happen if Cnchi has not finished updating itself. If this is the case, just boot up the ISO again and wait for about five minutes before opening up Cnchi. Now it should be fully updated and good to go!
Hopefully this helps and good luck!
